FishedDunn’s Pond this evening after work on 5-6” of ice. The ice is still ok but starting to get slushy on the top. The sides are also starting to go however I was able to spud out relatively easily. I drilled several holes, marked a few fish and caught an 18” Saugeye right at dark.

I volunteered on the IFO booth all weekend - it was great to see everyone who came to the booth. I didn’t get to see much of the show however; the vendors and visitors I spoke were all very happy.....we done David for developing a great show and putting Columbus on the fishing map!

How was the fishing? Anything more productive than others?
The fishing was a bit slow (remember I’m a newbie) caught gills, a couple of crappie, short saugeye and got broke off by a larger saugeye....way better than being in the office though!

There’s 6”-7” in the back waters and on Long Pond. There’s areas of open water on the main lake area. North Fork is was a no go as of yesterday. I fished 3 different areas yesterday and water clarity was good.....

I was contacted through Instagram by new member iceicebaby with this suggestion. He has done it on rivers in the past and gotten some major sponsors to help join in. They are well known in the fly Fishing community and have had Larry Dahlberg and other well known tiers and fly fishermen on their show. He told me Mosquito could use some sprucing up. Let us know what you think:
“I am new to this page but I love ice fishing I was hoping maybe we as a group can get some cleanup days on certain lakes that are heavily fished organized any administrator who would love to help please contact me or anybody at all who wants to get involved and do something good we as a team need to keep litter out of parking lots and any trash off of the ice this will help our reputation and make our fishing areas better.”
I would be interested in leading something at Indian Lake if anyone is interested? There are some spots that could do with cleaning...

Arron I didn't buy that many or maybe I did. I was the person that spent the most at their booth.
One of the funniest things Ive seen; Buying Gruv jig boxes and then going around the corner to Sportsman’s Direct to fill them with jigs. A few of us did that.....

All, Sooner or, later (hopefully) the ice will recede and we’ll all have to settle back into normal life. This could mean reacquainting with family members such as; wives and kids we haven’t seen for a while and focussing on the honey do list or doing more around the house. If you’ve used your gas auger a lot during the ice season and your wife/significant other asks you to vacuum the house - please remember this is not the way to start a vacuum cleaner: https://youtu.be/vWM2-NLkAcoIf anyone has any other tips on how to safely introduce us back into society please share... Hi All,
I drove around the lake this evening - here’s what I saw:
- Lake ridge Island/Moundwood to Russell’s Point/Orchard Island has iced over. - There is open water North of Crystal Beach Island - Docks close to Moundwood are locked in still. - Moundwood is iced over up from the bridge to 100yds from the mouth. - The channel on the other side of the Moundwood Bridge is iced. - The mouth of Dunn’s pond is iced but no access from Moundwood. - Areas of the spillway are starting to ice along the bank. (I fished the spillway for a couple of hours - no bites). - Russell’s Point/Orchard Island to the West Bank is still locked. - There is a stretch of open water close to Old Field Island - Paradise Point is locked still - Long Island 1st pull off - locked - 1st Pic (5” of ice up to 50yds out) (There were a couple of guys fishing from 1st pull off) - Long Island 2nd pull off - locked - 2nd pic (Chisel went through after 2 hits) - Long Island 3rd pull off (O’Connors side) - no access lots of open water - 3rd Pic - Long Island 3rd pull off (Pony Island side) - locked 1-1/2” at the bank - 4th Pic - North Fork - Open to 20yds out from the peninsula you walk around from 2nd pull off
So, the only place that is remotely fishable is 1st pull off. Paradise point area may be fishable however I didn’t check ice thickness.
I am writing off this weekend for fishing. I may go out at 1st pull-off on Sunday however; the rest of the lake is unsafe at this point.
I’ll check things again tomorrow and post results...

They are fun Andy. I don't know if you saw my 16 inch UL when we were crappie fishing that day but it's a blast to fish with. Catching a keeper saugeye on it was awesome.
Yep, I saw it...that’s what put me onto them....
