This wet, heavy snow is attacking the ice not only by its weight from above , but also will act as insulation preventing the night-time cold air temps from creating new ice while transferring its warmer temps to the top of the ice.
Bad news all around for us. After this coming thaw we would need another extended deep freeze in the latter half of February to make good ice again.   >:(

Yea Rik, I'm looking out my window and watching the snow come down in earnest. I've been wanting to get to Nimi this Wed. or Thursday, but the weatherman just said- "wet, heavy snow".  Dad-blast it anyhow!

Of course we know that IBJ was correctly wanting to be LOUD. You just struck me funny.

Bobby, you could almost finance it by selling all of your equipment it would replace!  :o  :D  :P

You would look good in that bright red beast that was at the show!

I'm copy/pasting most of this from my post at OGF rather than retyping it-

"What a great fishing show!  As a fellow past-owner of OGF, I had a great time running our booth at the Expo with Brandon.

It serves as proof that a show that's based solely on fishing can be a great success!
The planners of this show have put together a winning format!

As OGF owners we always have worked hard to provide "top shelf" events, OGF site content, etc.; the quality of this show was in the same category.

Congratulations Dave, it was an "over the top event"! "

I stopped by the IFO booth and talked with Nate, and handymanjeff. (I was the guy in the dark blue Team OGF polo shirt/ short white beard.)

I'm really looking forward to this show! I didn't make last years.

I'll be helping man the OGF booth, along with Shake, Redjada and a couple others. [a trip back in time for me from when I helped run our OGF booth a few years ago]
Stop in, introduce yourself and chew the fat a bit with us!  8)
I'll defintely be swinging by the IFO booth too.

Like in the old days my wife will be going with me for the weekend.
There are plenty of restaurants to select from to take your wife to celebrate Valentine's Day.
Make it something special by treating her to a new one! That's my plan Sunday afternoon.   ;)

Wow, thats clear water alright.
No doubt about it, I would absolutely be using a brand of fluorocarbon line!
And the smallest diameter you feel comfortable with: 4-6 lb. at most, preferably even 2-3 lb..
I would hide as much of the hook as possible, and use live bait as well.

If you are targeting gills and perch, also make sure not to use a larger hook than necessary.

Rik, where do you like to go to drift crawlers on Erie?

Jim, I like that idea of an in-ground crawler box. Do you have some plans, or an article you read?

Let us know what you find out Joel.
If you need the surgery, I'll reel in all of the slobs you catch this year!
